It’s time for a little me-time…

Improving work-life balance is one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions women make, and Women in Business and Regional Development Inc. (WiB&RD) is hoping to help them to achieve that goal by presenting an innovative weekend of pampering and indulgence by the sea.

Plans are underway for a two-day retreat in Robe in 2012 designed to revive and restore a sense of total mental and physical well-being for as many as 100 participants. Local businesses and individuals interested in being part of this exciting concept are invited to share their ideas in the gardens of the Wild Mulberry Café, Victoria Street, Robe on Saturday 26 November 2011 from 1.30 – 2.30 pm.

“Businesses can get involved by offering special indulgence or accommodation packages, providing discount vouchers, sponsorship and other services, hosting a breakfast, lunch or dinner, running a workshop or exercise class, opening their garden, creating an adventure walk, offering wine appreciation, cooking or craft classes, joining our organising committee, or simply using their networks to encourage participation and promote this wonderful weekend,” says WiB&RD chairman Tammy Whitehead.

Relieving stress, harmonising the mind, learning new skills and replenishing energy levels of participants will be a key focus of the weekend, which is expected to play a key role in supporting the local economy by generating tourism spend and visitor stays. A selection of professionally–run workshops shaped around the health and relaxation theme, a gala dinner with a keynote speaker, a decadent series of food and wine experiences at a range of exciting locations, along with ample time for personal self indulgence are among the ideas currently being explored.

“WiB&RD would like to turn the Robe retreat into a high-profile annual event with the potential to attract participants beyond the Limestone Coast, and we really want businesses to embrace this concept by developing special offers and packages to entice tourists, and assist with planning and staging the event. They don’t necessarily have to be based in Robe, but they must be prepared to travel for the weekend, and we’re sure that they will find the trip worthwhile. What an amazing night! Collecting the prestigious Influential Women in Business Awards for 2011 were Redgum Country owner Wendy Richardson, who was named Business Woman of the Year, Tatiara based Angela Dunsford from Good Country Physiotherapy who was named Young Business Woman of the Year, Cape Jaffa Wines partner, Anna Hooper who won the Best Business category, professional photographer, Joanna Hodges from Joanna Fincham Photography who won Best Home Based Business and Nadine Zanol from Lights at 133 who was awarded Best Small Business.

The diverse backgrounds of these winners really reflected the deep pool of talent that we have here in the Limestone Coast and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate their achievements. Each category winner demonstrated an extremely strong commitment to volunteering and community causes and they exhibited a real belief in the benefits and advantages of living in the Limestone Coast region.
