In November 1998 personal invitations were extended to eleven high profile community leaders from across the Limestone Coast to attend a Women in Regional Development round table in Adelaide. This was facilitated by the Southern Cross University and coordinated by the Limestone Coast Area Consultative Committee. The workshops were aimed at increasing women’s participation in the economic expansion of their individual regions and ran throughout Australia.
Ignited by their passion and enthusiasm, these women made a commitment to support women in their quest to realise business success while encouraging others to contribute as leaders to grow their communities.
Women in Business & Regional Development was born in December 1998 and over the next eleven years became the premier women’s business network across the Green Triangle auspiced by the Limestone Coast Area Consultative Committee. The network was inspired by the strategic leadership and vision demonstrated by their Executive Officer, Elaine Pollock.
As a mature, not for profit community organisation, Women in Business and Regional Development became incorporated on 1st July 2009 and now delivers a diverse and innovative range of services to over 1000 women. We continue to grow and lead the way as one of the most respected and valuable resources for women throughout the Limestone Coast and Western Victoria regions.
