Congratulation to the inductees into the 2018 Hall of Fame, Wendy
Richardson, Tammy Whitehead and Elizabeth Hodges.
WiBRD were thrilled with the number of applicants and the number of supporters who attended our Hall of Fame and Gala Dinner to celebrate the achievement of three incredible women in our community.
Elizabeth Hodges (Current President – Toastmasters) – Elizabeth held the position of Chairman for 4 years and has been involved in our network for many years outside of this time. She maintains a strong presence in the community and attendance with ours and other organisations. She is a current member and regular attendee at our events always providing a smile and conversation for strangers and friends alike.
Tammy Whitehead (Glenara Transport) – Tammy was Chairman for 2 years, Treasurer for 2 years, as well as continuing as a current member and sponsor. Tammy moved to Portland to live and have been a driving force to try and get business women over in Victoria to join us. She continues to provide incredible mentorship and to this day is always thinking about what we can do to get more women involved in our network.
Wendy Richardson – (Redgum Country) Wendy is an incredibly supportive person of our network. She a long-term member and valued sponsor over many years. Wendy was our inaugural winner of the 2010 IWA Influential Business woman of the year. This event has grown so much we had to make it a bi-annual event. Her passion for family, community and our network has helped to bring many new members to our network.
Women in Business and Regional Development choose to celebrate the women in our community. Their achievements, their continuing ability to improve themselves, their contribution to the business community and also to our wider community. We are so very proud of everyone and their accomplishments. Celebrating the achievements of women is something we are passionate about, because we know when we support each other, especially other women, it strengthens our communities and creates abundance in our economy.
Congratulations Caitlin Kennedy & Tamara Seeley
Caitlin Kennedy of Envy Attire Hire and Tamara Seeley of Limoncello Caravan Bar were announced as the 2018 recipients of the Entrepreneurial Scholarship at the WiBRD Launch on the 16th of February with Scholarship Sponsor, Duncan Redman of Dare to Dream in attendance on the night to announce the two recipients.
Women in Business & Regional Development are very proud of the number of submissions and impressed by the calibre of all nominees to the scholarship in 2018. Our judging panel certainly did not have an easy time with choosing the two recipients for 2018. The variety of talent and innovation within the region is incredible. We have been highly impressed by the standard and the candidates should all be very proud of what they have achieved. The number of applications is a strong indication that the WiBRD entrepreneurial scholarship is considered a step in the right direction for the network and demonstrates the growth of entrepreneurial talent our region has to offer.
The WiBRD Entrepreneurial Scholarship program was developed in 2017 to support the establishment and fostering of entrepreneurs in our region. Valued at over $2000 each, the Entrepreneurial Scholarships will take place over the course of 12 months and are directly aligned with the WiBRD 2018 Events calendar whereby the recipients of the scholarship will be supported and guided in their business pursuits by the WIBRD network. Included in the package is a complimentary membership to the network for 2018, over 6 hours of coaching sessions with Duncan Redman of Dare to Dream Business Coaching and Mentoring and free attendance to Women in Business & Regional Development events throughout the year.

“Celebrating the achievements of women is something that we as a board are very passionate about, as what we know for sure is that when we support each other, especially women it strengthens our communities and creates abundance in our economy” says Ali Villani, Chair of the WIBRD Awards committee and past Board Member. “This year the awards were bigger than ever with over 140 nominations received from all over the Green Triangle region from Naracoorte to Portland and the well-respected judging panel of Caroline Hill, Flexible Learning Options Area Manager, Department of Education & Child Development and Chair of the Limestone Coast Community Services Round Table, Lisa Rowley, Group Accountant with the Scott Group of Companies and Cheryl White, ANZ Home & Investment Lending Manager, Mount Gambier certainly did not have an easy job choosing the winner of the awards.”
An intensive judging process has now been completed for the WIBRD Entrepreneurial Scholarships for 2017 with four finalists being shortlisted and the two winners, Kelsie Prowse of The Apple Farm and Caitlin Zukauskas of Luxe Glamping announced at the WIBRD 2017 Launch at the Commodore on the Park.
According to the WiBRD Scholarship Committee Chair, Fiona Pulford, “we are very proud of the number and calibre of all entries to the scholarships. The variety of talent and innovation within the Green Triangle is incredible; we have been highly impressed by the standard, with so many of the applicants demonstrating entrepreneurial potential through setting up a new business and taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. They should all be very proud of what they have achieved and the number of applicants demonstrates the growing number of entrepreneurial talent our region has to offer. The number of submissions is a strong indication that this new and exciting initiative of the WIBRD is considered a step in the right direction by providing further opportunities for local business operators to support and collaborate.”
The two scholarships offered by Women in Business & Regional Development were developed to support the establishment and fostering of entrepreneurs and up and coming business women in our region who demonstrate entrepreneurial potential through setting up a new business, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit along with ongoing involvement in networking. Valued at over $1500 each, the scholarships are available to entrepreneurs and/or up and coming businesswomen in the Limestone Coast & Green Triangle area who demonstrate entrepreneurial potential.
Women in Business and Regional Development are proud to announce our involvement in the ANZ Mortgage introducer program.
After much consideration and member feedback from a survey of our network, Women in Business & Regional Development would like to announce our involvement in the ANZ Mortgage Introducer Program.
This opportunity by our Major Sponsor ANZ will enable us to receive additional funding to support the sustainability of our network through a mortgage introducer program whereby WIBRD receive 0.3% on residential loans and 0.6% of commercial loans from ANZ when members and sponsors of WIBRD mention their association with Women in Business & Regional Development.
The program will run for a trial period until from March 31, 2016 to October 1, 2016. A decision will then be made by the then current WIBRD Board if the program will continue taking in to account the 2017 sponsorship prospectus.
The WIBRD involvement in the program does not mean that we recommend the ANZ mortgage products over other mortgage products offered in the sector, and all people getting a loan are advised to perform their own due diligence in deciding what product is best for you or your business needs.
The decision to go ahead with this program has been reliant upon the feedback received from our network and we thank all that have contributed to the WIBRD making the decision to be involved.
All money raised from this program from the trial period will go towards the SARWG Scholarship, a Sub Fund of the Stand Like Stone Foundation, that seeks to support women in the Limestone Coast to achieve their educational goals, and operational costs for the WIBRD network to ensure our sustainability and ability to offer our members cost effective training and events.
Please note all enquiries are kept in the strictest confidence and any personal and/or business details are not shared with Women in Business & Regional Development.
